Constituents:

Flavonoids,antioxidants (especially luteolin), apigenin, Coumarins, lycopene,lysine, Phthalides, Psoralen Vitamins A, B1, B2, C, K, sugars, starch, mucilage, Volatile oil, Apiin. Minerals - Calcium, Iron, Magnesium , Potassium, Phosphorous, Zinc. Alkaloids - Myristicin, Rutin Acids - Folic, Nicotinic, Oleic, Palmitic, Petroselenic [ seeds] Volatile oil- containing apiole, myristicin,[[beta]]-phellandrene, p-mentha-l,3,8-triene, 4- isopropenyl-l-methylbenzene,2-(p-toluyl)propan-2-ol

Uses:

Used to freshen the breathe after eating plants of the Allium family [ garlic, onions etc ] The fresh leaves are highly nutritious and can be used as a natural vitamin and mineral supplement . As a diuretic it is effective in ridding the body of stones and in treating jaundice, dropsy, cystitis and assisting with clearing cellulite . It helps the body detoxify via the urine and can assist with conditions like in the rheumatism, arthritis, lactic acid build up . Parsley leaf will assist with clearing excess fluid in oedema . The seed is a safe herb at normal doses, but in excess it can have toxic effects. . An infusion of the roots and seeds can be taken after childbirth to promote lactation and help contract the uterus. Parsley leaf can be combined with Chamomile, eyebright, Cornflowers, to treat conjunctivitis. If the leaves are placed on the breasts of a nursing mother for a few days, the milk flow will cease.

Majikal Uses:

It is used for Lust, Protection, Purification. Parsley is used in purification baths and to prevent misfortune. When eaten parsley promotes Lust.

Notes:

Parsley should not be taken in therapeutic doses by Pregnant Women as it stimulates the Uterus and can cause miscarriage. Parsley should not be consumed by anyone with Kidney dis-ease / problems. Large amounts of parsley seed can be narcotic as they contain high amounts of the essential oil. Large amounts of the essential oil can also cause hallucination and a narcotic state. NB. contains a compound which is a MAO - A inhibitor therefore should not be used by anyone taking SSRI's or antidepressants.
